The aids, which are part of the Spanish Government’s Recovery and Resilience Plan approved by the European Union, are aimed at self-employed and passenger transport companies (private) and also freight transport companies.
These first aids, which for the State as a whole have a global amount of 174 million euros, are part of a higher budget -of up to 400 million euros- that will be provided once the first batch is spent and justified.
The companies and self-employed transport companies of the Balearic Islands, in this first phase, will be able to receive up to 3,621,025 euros to renew their fleet of vehicles. These aids will be processed by the Autonomous Community and will be received directly by the applicants.
In addition to this line of aid to renew the fleet, a second line of aid (also aimed at the passenger and freight transport sector) is also expected to be opened to digitalize these companies and for an amount of 110 million euros.
The beneficiaries of this aid are holders of passenger transport licenses, in vehicles with more than eight seats, and freight transport licenses.
The distribution criterion is the number of goods and passenger vehicles (not public transport) domiciled in the autonomous community.
The following types of vehicles will be eligible for this aid: minibuses, minibuses and buses (more than eight seats) and freight vehicles (between 3.5 tons and 12 tons or more than 12 tons).
The lines of aid for fleet renewal are to retire polluting vehicles, purchase alternative energy vehicles, convert the propulsion of vehicles to less polluting energies and install recharging points.
The grants range from 2,500 to 200,000 euros in the case of the acquisition of hydrogen vehicles.
The forecast is that the State Government will complete the transfer of these 3.6 million in December and, within the following three months, make the call so that the companies of the sector can request the aids.
The aid is intended for the following cases:
- convert to scrap and decommission.
In this case, aid may be received for a maximum of thirty vehicles in the case of a company and for one vehicle in the case of a self-employed person.
The aid amounts to between 2,500 and 25,000 euros per vehicle, depending on the type of vehicle.
- Purchase of alternative energy vehicles (less polluting).
The amount of the aid is proportional to the higher cost of alternative energies compared to a diesel. The amount is higher for technologies with lower emissions.
The aim is to encourage the acquisition of zero emission vehicles (electric and hydrogen), low emission vehicles (plug-in hybrids and hybrids) and natural gas vehicles.
In this case, aid may be requested for a maximum of fifty vehicles in the case of a company and one per individual in the case of self-employed persons.
The amounts vary according to the type of vehicle purchased:
- In the case of simple hybrids: between 15,000 and 60,000 euros per vehicle.
- In the case of plug-in hybrids: between 20,000 and 70,000 euros per vehicle.
- In the case of natural gas vehicles: between €15,000 and €50,000 per vehicle.
- In the case of electric vehicles: between 45,000 and 200,000 euros per vehicle.
- In the case of hydrogen vehicles: between 45,000 and 200,000 euros per vehicle.
- Modifying vehicle propulsion systems
Aid is available for converting the propulsion of diesel, gasoline or gas vehicles to zero-emission, electric or hydrogen vehicles.
The aid limit is for fifty vehicles per company and one per individual.
The aid ranges from 18,000 to 20,000 euros per vehicle.
- Implementation of electric vehicle recharging points.
They must have public access and the grants are between 10,000 and 40,000 euros.
These grants are conditioned to the application for the acquisition of electric vehicles.
