The aid will be 40% of the rent in general and 50% for young people and the over 65s, with a maximum of 3,000 euros in all cases.

The Minister of Mobility and Housing, Josep Marí, accompanied by the Director General of Housing and Architecture, Eduardo Robsy, announced the call for aid for rental housing in 2021.
For the 2021 aid, the largest budget allocated so far to rental aid has been made available, a total of 9 million euros (9,028,000 euros), 8,928,000 euros from the State Housing Plan 2018-2021 and 100,000 euros from regional funds to complete the cases not covered by the State Plan.
The councillor explained that the forecast is that some 5,000 families could benefit from this aid.
The aid is aimed at those families who pay rent, so that they can recover part of what they have paid. It has to be the rent of their habitual residence and the rent they pay may not exceed 900 euros per month.
Applicants will be able to receive 40% of what they have justified they have paid for rent in 2021 and in the case of young people under 35 or people over 65 they will be able to receive 50% of the amount. There is, however, a maximum ceiling of 3,000 euros per family.
The Minister recalled that these grants have been announced since 2015 and that for the Government they have always been a priority, so that year after year the budget has been increased and, consequently, the number of families benefiting from these grants has increased.
In this sense, he recalled that it has gone from 785 beneficiaries and a budget of 1.4 million in 2015, to 8.9 million and 5,108 beneficiaries in 2020; and to a budget of up to 9 million for the 2021 call, which is also expected to reach more than 5,000 families. This represents a spectacular increase of 540%.
The Minister added that, for the 2021 call for applications, a series of new features have been introduced that will make it easier for applicants to formalise their applications and streamline processing and payments.
Among the new conditions, he highlighted the following:
The income that the family nucleus can have in order to qualify for aid has been raised by 5%. The income of the family nucleus may not exceed 23,725.80 euros per year. There are some cases (such as large families, single-parent families or families with disabled people) in which the income to qualify for aid may be higher: 31,634 euros or 39,543 euros, depending on the case.
For the first time, single-parent families will be placed on an equal footing with large families (thanks to a regional law that gives them the same rights) and this means that they will be eligible for benefits despite having a higher income (within the established limits) than those required for all purposes.
It will also be sufficient to present a declaration that they are not in debt to the Administration in order to be able to apply for aid, and it will not be necessary to accredit the deposit of a deposit (last year this requirement was exempted due to the situation of COVID-19, but now it has been established as a general rule).
In terms of processing, partial payments will be made in blocks as the dossiers are reviewed and approved.
