Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) won the Pollença-Port d’Andratx Trophy, the fourth and penultimate day of the XXXI Garden Hotels-Luxcom Challenge Ciclista Mallorca, which took place this Saturday, over 170 kilometres, between the towns of Pollença and Andratx.
Valverde took 4 hours and 14 minutes and 50 seconds to beat Brandon McNulty (UAE Emirates), second, and the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov (Bora-Hansgrohe), who completed the podium.
Valverde’s statement after winning in Mallorca
“We tried to control the race as much as possible, and the team behaved like a dream. We had to climb fast here in Andratx to try to eliminate the fast people who were left in the group. We managed to cut Matthews, who was the strongest remaining rider, but I saw him come back with 250-300 metres to go and that’s when I started before he arrived, and I was able to take the victory.
