The Department of European Funds, University and Culture, through the Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB), is present with a stand at the international comic festival of Angoulême (France), the most important in Europe and a strategic meeting point for comic professionals from all over the world. Some of the most outstanding comic authors from the Islands are Max, Pere Joan, Bartomeu Seguí, Guillem March, Anabel Colazo, Anapurna and Bàrbara Alca, who are present in the catalogue of new publications that the IEB has prepared for the Angoulême event, which is being held until Sunday in the French city.

In addition to the new catalogue mentioned above, the IEB will also be showing a selection of recent publications (2020-2022) in comics and illustration.
The aim of the IEB’s participation is to meet with publishers in order to promote comic authors from the Balearic Islands. Many of these publishers have already benefited from the IEB’s book publishing subsidies. In 2021 alone, the institute dedicated to the culture and language of the Balearic Islands Government has supported 120 applications for book publishing grants, of which approximately 45 correspond to comic books or illustrated books for children or young people.
In addition, the IEB seeks to make new contacts and expand the network of collaborators and publishers interested in collaborating with authors from the Balearic Islands.
