The aim of these competitions is to promote, strengthen and disseminate vocational training, as well as to promote vocational training studies and disseminate the good practices of students in educational centres and society in general. Among these objectives, a fundamental part is to strengthen the relationship between educational centres and companies and also to provide a meeting point between students, teachers and companies related to their sector.
The Balearic Islands delegation that participated in this state phase was made up of a total of 53 people, including competitors, tutors, coordinators, team leaders and representatives of the Directorate General of Vocational Training and Higher Artistic Education.
A total of 17 students took part, representing 10 centres in the Balearic Islands that offer vocational training: 9 from Mallorca and 1 from Menorca. Although the official competition modalities are individual, in the Landscape Gardening skill they participate as a team.
Spainskills is a competition of practical tests where the knowledge and skills of VET students are demonstrated. In the state tests, the Balearic Islands take part in 16 modalities. The jury, present during the competition, assesses not only the final result, but also the skills and competences of the participants in the execution and development of the projects. On the basis of the score obtained, the competitors are awarded gold, silver or bronze medals in the different skills. The winners will represent Spain at Euroskills and Worldskills.
