The Action Plan for 2022 of the Balearic Foundation for Innovation and Technology (BIT Foundation) plans to host the 20th International Conference of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTO) in Mallorca, coinciding with the 20th birthday of the inauguration of Parc Bit.
The Consell de Govern, at the proposal of the Councillor for European Funds, University and Culture, Miquel Company, has taken note of the Action Plan that includes this event in June, as well as two other milestones of international importance: the annual Spanish conference of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), in September, and a new edition of the Innovation and Tourism International Seminar (INTO), in November.
Parc Bit will thus become the Spanish capital of innovation throughout 2022, a period in which the main objectives to be achieved will continue to focus on facilitating access to technologies for both companies and public administrations, promoting the economy and entrepreneurship based on knowledge, and strengthening the ICT sector of the Balearic Islands, promoting Parc Bit and the Bit Menorca Centre as the main centres (hubs) of innovation in the Balearic Islands.
As stated in the Bit Foundation’s Action Plan, one of the main strategic lines of action will be joint collaboration between the Bit Foundation and other agents in the innovation ecosystem to lead the way in technological innovation in health and tourism. Among the proposals for this year in which Parc Bit celebrates its 20th birthday, is to promote the creation of working groups with intermediate bodies to coordinate the lines of action of each area of knowledge and give support.
The Bit Foundation will continue to provide the technical and human resources necessary to provide the technical support required by the Govern de les Illes Balears, and to promote the Bit Menorca Centre and Parc Bit brands as spaces for the generation of technological innovation projects and the development of actions to promote R+D+I in the Balearic Islands.
In addition, as specified in the new Action Plan, there is a clear commitment to support the productive fabric in the field of innovation from the idea, with the incubation programme for startups (startups) Emprenbit; growth, with the services of the Enterprise Europe Network, PIDI point and Business Innovation Center to promote innovation and international collaboration and digitisation with the support programme for SMEs.
Likewise, the plan also includes actions aimed at disseminating the technological innovations of the future among Balearic society, training it as a seed for the creation of new knowledge and technology-based services and products and the promotion of STEM vocations with a gender perspective.
In relation to the strategic objectives, some of them are to provide high added value ICT services for the networks and communications of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands, to accompany the public administrations of the Balearic Islands in the incorporation of new technologies as a tool for efficiency and effectiveness through innovation and the processes of implementation of electronic administration. At the same time, it also focuses on the provision of centralised telephone appointment services for all primary care centres in the Balearic Islands.
The Foundation also aims to provide the necessary tools to scientific and business agents for the achievement of their R+D+I initiatives and to offer the public administrations of the Balearic Islands an optimal information service and specialised IT support.
