The Consell de Govern has authorized the signing of two agreements between the Conselleria de Fondos Europeos, Universidad y Cultura and the island councils of Menorca and Ibiza to be able to carry out the call and granting of travel aids for students with family domicile in these islands who pursue university studies in the European Union (EU-27) during the academic year 2021-2022.

The amounts allocated are calculated according to the population; thus, for the Menorca agreement, an amount of 77,805 € is foreseen, while for Ibiza, the amount is 83,034 €. The beneficiaries will have to meet minimum academic requirements in terms of credits enrolled.

These aids serve to compensate the insularity in educational matters and, especially, the needs of students who have to attend university studies not taught in the territory of the Balearic Islands, as well as the double insularity that students from Menorca and Ibiza, in this case, must suffer.

The Ministry of European Funds, University and Culture intend to continue with the policy of financial aid for university students of the Balearic Islands initiated in previous years. On the one hand, to guarantee a homogeneous and efficient provision of the public service of education that allows to correct the inequalities due to insularity of the students of the Balearic Islands; on the other hand, to promote quality, competence and excellence in the academic performance of our university community.
