\ The state regulation modifying the obligatory use of face masks indoors is being applied.

\ It will only be compulsory for students on school transport, when adequate ventilation cannot be guaranteed or in crowded areas.

\ For teaching and non-teaching staff, the use is recommended when the distance of 1.5m cannot be maintained or for vulnerable people.

The Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training has sent to schools some indications for the application of the new state regulation that modifies the obligatory use of face masks in indoor spaces. Specifically, Royal Decree 286/2022 of 19 April establishes that it is compulsory for people over the age of six to wear a mask only in health and social-health centres and on public transport.

Therefore, it is no longer compulsory to wear a mask indoors in educational establishments as well.

For pupils, it will only be compulsory to wear a facemask on school transport or when using public transport on a trip or outing, when adequate ventilation of the spaces cannot be guaranteed or when there are crowds.

For workers (teaching and non-teaching staff), the use of masks is recommended when the distance of 1.5 m cannot be maintained or for vulnerable people in any situation, and may only be made compulsory on the basis of the risk assessment of the workplace, which must be carried out by the relevant occupational risk prevention services. In all cases, it is recommended that ventilation and hygiene measures be maintained.

These indications will be subject to revision as the Ministry of Health has announced that next week it will publish a specific document for educational centres.
