The SOIB website publishes this Saturday the conditions for registering for the SOIB Research and Innovation programme that the University of the Balearic Islands will launch this September and which will take on some 120 young graduates in various University projects.

This programme subsidises the labour costs of young people hired to develop and implement research and innovation initiatives of the SOIB programme, and more specifically, for the hiring of young people aged between 16 and 29 as researchers, technologists, technical staff and other R&D&I professional profiles, as well as research support staff in public research bodies, public universities and technology centres, among others.

The duration of the contract is a minimum of 12 months, although the entity promoting the projects may extend it if it is so considered. The UIB will start hiring during the month of September.

The call was published by the SOIB last March and is aimed at implementing investment projects for new public policies for a more dynamic, resilient and inclusive labour market, included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by the EU’s NextGeneration funds, for a total amount of 4,776,148 euros.

Now, the UIB is opening the registration period, from 9 to 14 July, so that in early September it can already implement the projects agreed by this programme. The activities to be supported under this call are projects related to health, ecological transition and green economy (renewable energies, energy efficiency, water and waste treatment and food industry), digitalisation of services and data engineering (data science), as well as other research projects aimed at social, cultural or artistic areas.

The UIB’s offer of places will soon be joined by projects that will also be developed by the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IDISBA) and the Menorcan Institute of Studies (IME), which have also joined the SOIB Research and Innovation Programme and will soon begin their respective registrations. As a whole, the SOIB Research and Innovation programme will enable 144 people to be recruited.
