7,600 of the total of 14,525 people in the Balearic Islands who are entitled to receive the Bono Social Térmico for 2020 have already submitted their applications to the Conselleria de Asuntos Sociales y Deportes, which will allow them to receive what they are entitled to.

The Bono Social Térmico is the economic aid managed by the Conselleria de Asuntos Sociales y Deportes and paid annually through a single payment, with funds from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, with the aim of compensating the costs of gas, heating, hot water or cooking.

In total, the Conselleria will distribute 1,491,635 euros, transferred from the Secretary of State for Energy of the Spanish Government. All people who were already beneficiaries of the Bono Social Eléctrico as of 31 December 2020 are eligible.

The amount of the aid depends on the profile of the family (e.g. vulnerability, dependency, disability, large family…) and the climate zone of their municipality of residence. In accordance with the criteria established by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the grants for 2020 will range for beneficiaries in the Balearic Islands between 82.92 euros and 206.18 euros per year.

The Regional Ministry of Social Affairs and Sports reminds families who are entitled to receive it to apply for it. In this way, it provides them with an allowance that serves as a financial contribution to compensate for the price inflation of recent months.
