The Balearic Islands Agricultural and Fisheries Guarantee Fund (FOGAIBA) paid out more than 2.6 million euros in aid to the primary and agri-food sector in July

The Balearic Islands Agricultural and Fisheries Guarantee Fund (FOGAIBA), an agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, paid out 2,650,199.10 euros in aid to the agricultural, fisheries, livestock and agri-food sectors in July. This mainly involves aid from the Rural Development Programme Service (RDP), the State Aid and CMO Service, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and fisheries aid.

The RDP aid paid out this July totals almost two million euros, 1,988,217.49 euros to be precise. One of the most important items refers to the creation of companies by young farmers. It amounts to 384,500 euros. Also of note is the payment of 348,668.50 euros in aid for organic livestock farming. 312,610.03 euros have also been paid for investments in agricultural holdings and 315,939.72 euros for non-productive investments. In July, 200,869.09 euros were also paid for aid for participation in information and promotion programmes, and 176,086.03 euros for aid for investments in forest fire prevention, among others.

As for aid from the State Aid and CMO Service, 506,000 euros have been paid, of which 300,000 euros are for slaughterhouse aid, 161,000 euros for aid for the drought for animal feed, and 78,000 euros for the promotion of indigenous breeds and 31,000 euros for agricultural insurance, among others.

Finally, 62,777.04 euros of fishing aid and 3,512 euros of CAP dossiers have also been paid.

In total, FOGAIBA has paid more than 31 million euros in aid to the primary and agri-food sector in the Balearic Islands during the first seven months of 2022 and more than 200 million euros during this legislature.
