The Govern de les Illes Balears, through the Directorate General of Culture, is taking part in the Nit de l’Art de Palma with the exhibition “La mar dels Baleàrics”, which can be visited until 14th October in the Kingdom Archive. The Regional Ministry of European Funds, University and Culture is organising, with the collaboration of the Baleària Foundation, this collective exhibition, mainly of Balearic artists who have created their works around the concept of the sea.

“La mar dels Baleàrics” was inaugurated in the Torre de los Duques de Medinaceli in El Verger, to continue in the Sala Taller Els Magazinos in Denia, the Casa de Cultura El Pedreguer in Alicante and then travel to Menorca, to the exhibition hall of the Antigua Iglesia de Sant Josep in Ciutadella and this August to the exhibition hall of the Auditorium of Porreres in Mallorca.
The Kingdom Archive can be visited from today with the following opening hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 7.30 pm; Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 2.30 pm and with special opening hours for the Nit de l’Art (Art Night) tomorrow (from 9 am to 9 pm), Friday (from 5 pm to 8 pm) and Saturday (from 6 pm to 11 pm). The President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, will inaugurate the exhibition tomorrow at 8 p.m., coinciding with the main event of the Nit de l’Art, which will also be attended by the Minister of European Funds, University and Culture, Miquel Company; the Director General of Culture, Catalina Solivellas, and on behalf of Baleària, Miquel Mercant. Some of the artists will also be in attendance.
The exhibition will continue touring and can be seen in Ceuta and Denia.
Baleàrics Programme
The Baleàrics programme – with two previous exhibitions – has been made possible thanks to the work of the Govern de les Illes Balears, Baleària – through the “Llotges de la cultura” programme – and the collaboration of several town councils in the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands. All of these organisations have provided a meeting place for Mediterranean artists.
The Regional Ministry assumes the costs of the exhibition catalogue, the insurance of the works and the expenses derived from the coordination, the curatorship and the assembly and disassembly of the exhibitions. Baleària is covering the costs of the boat transfer and accommodation and is making its spaces and infrastructures available.
