Activa Startups, belonging to the Activa family of programmes, is an initiative of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in the development of the National Strategy for Connected Industry 4.0, which has among its objectives the promotion of the digital transformation of Spanish industry, increasing its growth potential and in turn developing the local supply of digital solutions.
The aim of this programme is to develop collaborative projects between SMEs and startups to boost their business growth. The aid, in the form of a grant, will enable companies to meet the costs arising from the innovation process. Specifically, the maximum amount established for each beneficiary SME is 40,000 euros.
The Activa Startups call is aimed at companies in the Balearic Islands in all sectors except agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and construction. It has a budget of 600,000 euros and aims to work with innovation challenges of at least 15 SMEs in this first call.
The actions eligible for funding will be innovation projects in digital transformation, development and incorporation of emerging technologies, transformation towards a low-carbon economy or incorporation of the circular economy in the business model of the SME.
The Fundación Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI), attached to the General Secretariat for Industry and SMEs, is responsible for managing the investment planned for the Activa Startups calls, which amounts to 44 million euros from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience mechanism fund, and aims to support 1,100 SMEs before the end of 2023.
This aid programme was presented on 13 June to the business and entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Balearic Islands, in the presence of representatives of both administrations.
Applications may be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the EOI Foundation, and the application period will remain open for one month from the publication of the call for applications in the BOE (Official State Gazette).
This call for applications is part of the Capacities for SME Growth Programme of Component 13 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which has an overall budget of 101 million euros until December 2023. This initiative is also part of “Spain an Entrepreneurial Nation”, a long-term vision promoted by the Spanish government to make Spain a benchmark country in innovative entrepreneurship by 2030.
