The Vice-presidency and Regional Ministry of Energy Transition, Democratic Memory and Productive Sectors has set itself the objective of helping at least 30 Balearic companies to begin the certification process as innovative companies, and thus be registered in the Registry of Innovative SMEs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, which entails the Innovative SME seal.

This label gives access to Social Security contribution rebates and R&D&I tax deductions. It also allows companies to benefit from possible lines of aid that expressly mention the condition of “Innovative SME” and to participate in public contracts managed through Innovative Public Procurement.

This was explained by the regional secretary for Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Jesús Jurado, during the inauguration this morning of the conference “Certification and benefits of the Innovative SME seal”, organised in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Mallorca.

As Jurado explained, this action will be implemented within the framework of the Innovation Factory programme, promoted by the Directorate General for Innovation. This project also plans to identify at least one hundred companies for the implementation of certification plans, as well as the identification of another 200 companies or Innovative Business Groups (AEI) that want to carry out plans to support the management of R+D+i.

Thus, the Register of small and medium-sized innovative companies based in the Balearic Islands could increase by almost 50%. Factoría de Innovación also plans to train companies in certification plans, carry out innovation diagnosis and action plans for the structuring of R&D&I projects, as well as launching dissemination activities.

Those attending this conference have been able to learn about the functioning of the National Register of Innovative SMEs, through the intervention of the Secretary General for the Promotion of Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, José María Peláez; learn how to obtain the Innovative SME seal, thanks to the participation of the representative of the R&D&I unit of Aenor, Gerardo Maldivo; and hear case studies of innovative SMEs through the representatives of the clusters of the Chemical Industry of the Balearic Islands and the Balearic Marine Cluster, Joan Miquel Matas and Pedro Suasi, respectively.
