New IBE shared self-consumption projects awarded in Mallorca and Menorca

Up to 570 homes and 53 SMEs located in Algaida, Esporles, Llucmajor, Artà, Palma, Ciutadella, Ferreries and Mercadal will be able to benefit from clean energy at cost price, thus lowering their electricity bills.

The Balearic Energy Institute (IBE), an entity attached to the Vice-Presidency and Department of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, has awarded the contract for the construction of nine shared self-consumption systems located on the islands of Mallorca and Menorca. The tender has been divided into 6 lots, and the projects will be located in the municipalities of Algaida, Esporles, Llucmajor, Artà and Palma in the case of Mallorca, and Ciutadella, Ferreries and Mercadal in the case of Menorca.

These nine projects will be able to supply clean energy at cost price to a total of 570 homes, always prioritising vulnerable households to combat energy poverty, as well as up to 53 SMEs and municipal consumption. In total, the tender was for a value of 787,780.29 euros (plus VAT), and has finally been awarded at a price of 492,133.78 euros (plus VAT), with a significant reduction. Execution time is expected to be 18 weeks from the act of staking out. The seven projects will save the emission of 324.11 tonnes of CO2/year, thus contributing to the mitigation of climate change.

Palma

In the case of the two shared self-consumption projects in Palma, the company G-Ener Energías Renovables SL obtained the highest score. The tender budget was 240,348.65 euros plus VAT (120,751.39 euros for the first and 119,597.26 euros for the second), and this company won the tender with a bid of 148,400 euros plus VAT.

One of the projects will be located in an IBAVI and iB3 Radio building, with a power of 64 kW, which will be able to reach up to 92 homes and 9 businesses, thus supplying green energy at cost price to Palma’s neighbourhoods, prioritising vulnerable households. In addition, a total of 23.22 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year will be avoided.

Likewise, a second project will be located in a VPP in Plataners street. With this shared self-consumption, up to 60 kW will be added, which will be able to supply up to 84 homes and 9 businesses, thus supplying green energy at cost price to Palma’s neighbourhoods, prioritising vulnerable households. In addition, a total of 49.53 tonnes of CO2/year of emissions will be avoided. These projects are possible thanks to the agreement signed with the Balearic Housing Institute, which establishes that the resources from the energy billed will be reinvested in energy efficiency improvements and building refurbishment.

Algaida and Esporles (Lot 1)

In the case of the shared self-consumption projects in Algaida and Esporles, the company SIE Balear SLP obtained the highest score. The tender budget was 41,116.04 euros plus VAT for the Algaida project and 40,023.19 euros plus VAT for the Esporles project. The award price for the two projects was 58,971.87 euros plus VAT.

The Algaida project will be located in the Multi-purpose Hall, and its installation will add 20 kW, which will be able to supply up to 20 homes, 4 businesses, in addition to the Town Hall’s own consumption. In addition, a total of 15.95 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year will be avoided.

In the case of Esporles, the project will be located in the Training Centre and will allow the addition of 20 kW, which will be able to supply up to 20 homes and 4 companies, in addition to the municipal consumption. In addition, a total of 15.31 tonnes of CO2/year of emissions will be avoided.

Llucmajor

The Llucmajor project will be located in the CEIP Rey Jaime III and will generate 79kW, which will be able to supply up to 80 homes, 6 companies and the Town Hall. With this self-consumption, which had a tender price of 154,573.72 euros plus VAT and has been awarded for 70,350.00 plus VAT, it will avoid emitting up to 57.09 tonnes of CO2 per year. The company Punt de Servei Elèctric SLU received the highest score for this project.

Artà

In Artà, the project will be located in the Escoletes Pou de Sa Lluna and Na Caragol and will generate 80kW, which will be able to supply up to 80 homes, 6 companies and the Town Hall. With this self-consumption, which had a tender price of 144,197.14 euros plus VAT and has been awarded for 92,900, plus VAT, it will avoid emitting up to 72.25 tonnes of CO2 per year. The company G-Ener Energías Renovables SL received the highest score for this project.

Ciutadella and Ferreries (Lot 4)

In the case of Ciutadella, the project located in the VPP of Ciutat d’Oristano street 20, will add 22kW that can reach up to 32 homes and 4 companies in the municipality, in addition, to stop emitting up to 15.36 tons of CO₂ in the year.

In the case of Ferreries, the project is located in the VPP Son Morera and its commissioning will add 18.7 kW that will supply electricity to 26 homes and 5 businesses, and will also stop emitting 12.57 tonnes of CO2/year.

This lot was put out to tender at a price of 70,205.7 plus VAT (37,876.53 euros in the case of Ciutadella and 32,329.17 in the case of Ferreries) and has been awarded to the company INAY Energías SL for 52,815.00 euros + VAT.

Mercadal

Finally, the project located in Es Mercadal and awarded to INAY Energías SL for 68,696.91 euros plus VAT (the tender price was 97,315.85 euros plus VAT), will be located in the Ronda de ses Costes housing development. This shared self-consumption plant will have a total capacity of 88kW and will supply 136 homes and 6 companies with clean energy, thus avoiding the emission of up to 62.83 tonnes of CO2/year.
