The contest of names goes on with the voting of the 12 best proposals among the 100 received
The Department of Sustainability and Environment continues the contest to choose the name of the new boat that has been built by the master boatmen of the Consell de Mallorca. 100 responses have been received, and from these, the 12 best ones have been pre-selected. The gussi is a small boat for fishing, it has the same shape at the bow and stern and this allows it to be rowed in both directions with ease. The name with the most votes will finally be chosen to name the gussi. Votes can be cast until Wednesday 14 December via the online voting form.
The Councillor for Sustainability and Environment, Aurora Ribot, invites all citizens to vote and help find a name for the new boat and stressed that “the workshop of masters of the riverbank and traditional sailing boats are key to the conservation of our maritime heritage. The Consell de Mallorca is working to promote and conserve the natural and marine environment, and we will continue to work to raise awareness of traditional boats, their construction and their history.
