The event was attended by Alelí Mirelman, project director of the Casa Planas Cultural Centre; Dr Dolores Tirado, dean of the Faculty of Tourism; and Dr Patricia Horrach, Dr Margarita Novo and Dr Tolo Deyà, who will participate in the work team that will develop the agreement.
Through the agreement, which will last for four years, Casa Planas and the Faculty of Tourism will collaborate in academic, scientific and cultural activities.
The aim of the agreement is to ensure the study and dissemination of the cultural, archival and historical heritage of Casa Planas related to the history of tourism.
The collaboration arises from the confluence of objectives of both institutions.
On the one hand, the mission of the Faculty of Tourism of the UIB is to guarantee, promote and support excellence in teaching and research in the field of Tourism, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, thus guaranteeing training throughout the working life of tourism professionals.
For its part, the Association manages the Casa Planas Centre for Research and Contemporary Culture, a platform for experimentation, research and creativity around the former Casa Planas photography factory.
Its objectives include creating a platform for experimentation, research and creativity that is committed to recovering the old Casa Planas photography factory, as well as developing activities linked to the city’s historical heritage using the Josep Planas i Montanyà archive with the aim of analysing, questioning and researching the landscape, political and social transformation through tourism development in the Balearic Islands.
