The citizens of Menorca, as well as tourists visiting the island, will have a mobile application to pay by credit card for journeys made on the island’s public transport service. The agreement, promoted by the Consell Insular’s Department of Mobility, between the French company Air web and the three concessionary companies of the service will allow coverage of all the transport lines on the island under a single application.
The application is expected to be available from January 2023, with a view to being fully operational during the 2023 summer season. Initially, the solution will allow all single tickets to be paid for at different prices depending on the origin and destination of the journey by credit card, thus facilitating this method of payment, which was not possible until now. However, the Menorca Island Council is already considering the future incorporation of other transport tickets, such as multi-journey tickets and season tickets with different frequencies.

It will be available from January in Catalan, Spanish and English, and adapted to the Spanish payment system, as well as using technology developed by Air web, a leading company in the digitisation of transport tickets.
The island’s Director of Transport, Damià Moll, declared that “with the launch of the application proposed by Air web we are responding to a historical demand of operators and users of public transport on our island, to be able to pay for tickets by credit card. The continuous desire to improve the service and the need to adapt to new needs requires constant contact with companies that allow us to use technological advances in favour of improvements for users”.
The president of Air web, Xavier Debbasch, said that “we are very pleased with the confidence of the Island Council of Menorca and the transport companies for Menorca to become the first Spanish location to have an m-Ticket system developed by Air web. Our experience in France and other countries will allow the island to have a solution that simplifies access to public transport for residents and tourists. This will have a very favourable impact on the preservation of the island.
The application will be available in the iOS and Android shops.
