Signs have been replaced in pedestrian zones in the city centre.
From 15th November to 15th December, the Local Police of Inca carried out a campaign to control personal mobility vehicles (PMV). This action has been carried out in the central area because the agents have detected more problems. Throughout this campaign, 45 complaints have been filed, mainly for circulating in pedestrian areas or circulating more than one person on a VMP. “We have no doubt that new forms of mobility are a solution to the problems of congestion in cities, but as long as they respect other users,” explained the head of the local police, Carlos Caballero.

Most of the penalties in the campaign have been for riding in pedestrian-only zones and for two people on scooters. “The spirit of the current regulation is the coexistence of the different actors on the public road, so, among other measures, re-educational measures are contemplated for those young users who commit infractions using this type of personal transport,” said Sebastià Oriol, councillor for Citizen Safety and Mobility. It is worth remembering that in 2019 Inca modified the municipal traffic ordinance to regulate the use of skateboards, scooters, skateboards, electric scooters and personal mobility vehicles.
The campaign carried out by the Local Police has been completed with the replacement of the signage in pedestrian areas. All this, with the intention of reinforcing the prohibition of the circulation on these roads by personal mobility vehicles. The aim is to ensure that pedestrians have unique circulation spaces.
