The Regional Ministry of Mobility and Housing, through the Balearic Housing Institute, and the Regional Ministry of Social Affairs and Sports have maintained a collaboration agreement since 2020 to provide public housing, ceded by the IBAVI, to be used as emancipation housing for young people between 18 and 25 years of age from both the protection system and the juvenile justice system.

Until today, Social Affairs had six IBAVI public housing units at its disposal, located in Mallorca and Menorca as part of this agreement. This week, the councillor for Mobility and Housing, Josep Marí, and the councillor for Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago, signed an addendum to the collaboration agreement between the two institutions to incorporate ten new homes: eight in Mallorca and two in Menorca.

The aim of this agreement is to facilitate the process towards autonomy for these young people and to ensure the necessary protection and help so that they can carry out a process of correct insertion that will facilitate their social and labour integration.

The ten homes now incorporated into the agreement are located in the towns of Inca, Muro, Manacor, Palma, Es Mercadal and Ciutadella. The Department of Social Affairs and Sports, through the Directorate General of Planning, Equipment and Training, will contribute the sum of 118,199.83 euros as consideration. The agreement is valid until 14th July 2024.
