The total amount eligible for subsidies is 107,326 €.

The Regional Ministry for the Environment and Territory has awarded grants to eighteen municipalities, consortia and public companies that manage waste amounting to €107,326.03 from the Plan de Impulso al Medio Ambiente (PIMA) for the circular economy.

Eighteen municipalities

The aim of the aid is to improve the management of the organic fraction of municipal waste and to promote the separation and recycling at the source of bio-waste through domestic and community composting.

The director general of Waste and Environmental Education, Sebastià Sansó, has assured that this line of subsidies “is a big step for municipalities to be able to adapt to meet the objectives of the Waste Act”, as well as “to ensure that this waste ends up becoming a resource”.

The beneficiaries have been: Alaró Town Council, Banyalbufar Town Council, Bunyola Town Council, Escorca Town Council, Esporles Town Council, Maria de la Salut Town Council, Montuïri Town Council, Puigpunyent Town Council, Santanyí Town Council, Santa Eugènia Town Council, Santa Margalida Town Council, Sencelles Town Council, Sineu Town Council, Vilafranca de Bonany Town Council, the Mancomunitat del Raiguer, Calvià 2000 SA, EMSER (the public company of Pollença) and Sóller 2010.

The following actions are eligible for subsidy:

  • Improvement of the separate collection of the organic fraction of municipal waste, by means of domestic bins and compostable bags for domestic use.

a) Domestic bio-waste bins.

b) Compostable bags for domestic use.

  • Improvement of the separate collection of the organic fraction of municipal waste to promote the separation and recycling at source of biowaste and its domestic and community composting.

a) Household composters.

(b) Community composters.

(c) Community bio-waste bins.

(d) On-street bio-waste bins.
