Intermodal Card in the municipalities of Mallorca

Since the 1st of January the interurban public transport of the TIB (bus, train and metro) is free for journeys made with the Intermodal Card. This free fare also extends to journeys on Palma’s EMT network, whether or not they involve transfers. Applications for new cards have been on an upward trend since the new fare system came into operation at the beginning of 2021 and in recent months have been boosted by the entry into force of the new free fare measure.

The Mallorca Transport Consortium has constantly expanded its user service by opening new card issuing points and reinforcing existing centres. Now, with the aim of encouraging everyone to have the Intermodal Card, the Transport Consortium of Mallorca has launched an itinerant campaign in the town halls to facilitate the issuing of the cards. TIB staff will spend a day or two on the premises of the town halls issuing the cards to users who request them.

These are the local councils that have already joined the campaign this year:

Vilafranca (10th January), Estellencs (13th January), Banyalbufar (23rd January), Sóller (24th January), Andratx (25th and 26th January), Artà (7th February), Deià (8th February), Colònia de Sant Jordi (9th February) and Ses Salines (10th February).

We remind you that you can get the Intermodal Card at the TIB user service offices (Palma, Inca, Manacor and Alcúdia), at the OACs of Marratxí and Llucmajor and at the Calvià offices (Santa Ponça and Magaluf). It can also be requested through the municipal offices of most town halls, in this case, the user will have to wait a few days to get the card.

In order to be able to adjust the service to the existing demand at all times and to be able to plan and manage it better, it is necessary to know the number of people travelling on each bus. For this reason, it is important that users continue to validate the card when getting on and off the bus. Therefore, although the service is free, they must have credit available on the card and if they do not validate it when getting off the bus, they will be charged a penalty of €0.30.
