The Mayor of Alcúdia, Domingo Bonnín, as well as the Deputy Mayor and President of the Consortium of the Roman city of Pollentia, Bárbara Rebassa, and the Councillor for Tourism, Josep Cladera, attended the event.

In addition to participating in the institutional events at FITUR, both on the part of the Government and the Consell, as well as supporting Alcúdia’s tourism business network, and holding meetings with companies in the sector, the Alcúdia Town Council has carried out the following presentations.

Alcúdia wants to promote Pollentia after 100 years of excavations, as one of the most important Roman cities in the Mediterranean.

The centenary of the excavations in the Roman city of Pollentia highlights the value of one of the most important Roman cities in the Mediterranean.

The Deputy Mayor and President of the Consortium of the Roman city of Pollentia, Bárbara Rebassa, at FITUR in Madrid, in addition to thanking all the members of the Consortium, as well as the City Council, the Balearic Government, the Council and the Central Government, explained that “the Centenary events throughout 2023 and part of 2024 have as their central focus bringing the site closer to the public.

The Consortium has prepared various proposals ranging from audiovisual dissemination to family activities, such as workshops, dramatised visits to the site, a series of small theatre performances in the Roman Theatre, concerts combining music and mythology, and other events to promote and publicise Pollentia as one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean”.

A video about Pollentia was shown, and then the co-director of the excavations, Miquel Àngel Cau, reviewed the 100 years of work at the Pollentia site, the different stages of the excavations, and the challenges for the future, such as the creation of the Pollentia Museum and the Pollentia Interpretation Centre.
