The Consell Insular (Island Council) and the town councils of Maó and Sant Lluís are the recipients of these subsidies.

The Department of Social Affairs and Sports has awarded three grants totalling 453,066.41 euros to Maó Town Council, Sant Lluís Town Council and the Consell Insular de Menorca to improve the accessibility of several public buildings that house citizen services.

The call, published in April 2022, aims to improve the accessibility of infrastructures and equipment of the local entities of the Balearic Islands through the financing of up to 100% of the cost of the projects. The investment (of a total of 964,785.21 euros for the entire autonomous community) corresponds to the axis “Economy of care and reinforcement of equality and inclusion policies” of the Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, from the European funds Next Generation EU.

Firstly, Social Affairs is subsidising Maó Town Council with 318,874.19 euros for the installation of a third lift in the geriatric building and the necessary adaptation of the space to make it possible. This action will guarantee accessibility in all areas of the nursing home.

Secondly, the Sant Lluís Town Council received 121,276 euros to finance the conversion work already carried out to adapt and equip a municipal facility to house the headquarters of the social services.

Finally, the Conselleria has granted aid of 12,916.22 euros to the Consell de Menorca to cover the costs incurred in installing a platform lift in the Sa Vinyeta building, which has made the training room accessible.
