Around one hundred students and twenty vocational training teachers will take part in the HORECA Baleares 2023 Fair from 6 to 8 March. They are students and teachers from the Cooking and Gastronomy, Restaurant Services, Bakery, Pastry and Confectionery and the specialisation course in Bakery and Bakery from IES Calvià, CIFP Juníper Serra (Palma), IES Guillem Colom Casasnoves (Sóller), IES Puig de sa Font (Son Servera), IES Alcúdia and IES Josep Sureda y Blanes (Palma).

This year, as a novelty, the location of the stand at HORECA MALLORCA has been changed. Thus, for the first time, there is a joint space for the Ministries of Education and Vocational Training, Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the cooks’ association ASCAIB. The aim of this collaboration is to highlight the importance of local produce and the circular economy. In this way, the product, training and gastronomic offer come together to promote what is one of the most important sectors in the Balearic Islands. Local producers provide the produce for the preparations that can be tasted at the stand.

In addition to preparing recipes using local produce and demonstrating the skills acquired in both cookery and catering studies, students and teachers from the schools will be presenting their studies and the possibilities offered by vocational training. There will also be staff from the Institute of Professional Qualifications of the Balearic Islands (IQPIB), who will provide information on the skills assessment process, through which professionals in the sector can convert their experience into an official certificate accrediting their knowledge.

Participation in this event over the years has allowed not only to create links between the educational community and the most relevant companies in the productive fabric of the autonomous community but also for the students of the training cycles to see the reality that the sector is experiencing in terms of current trends.

Another of the novelties this year is the participation in the first edition of HORECA MENORCA of the IES Maria Àngels Cardona (Ciutadella), with its students and teachers of the professional family of Hospitality and tourism. It will be held on 22, 23 and 24 March 2023.

Similarly, and following the good reception of the first edition of HORECA IBIZA last year, the vocational training centres of Ibiza that will participate in this 2023 edition are IES Balàfia (Sant Llorenç de Balàfia), IES Sa Serra (Sant Antoni de Portmany) and IES Isidor Macabich (Ibiza). It will be held on 8, 9 and 10 March 2023.
