Mental health professionals

A total of 15 mental health professionals including psychiatrists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and psychologists are taking this course which will train them to be able to transmit the results of qualitative research, understand the anthropological approach techniques and organise the analysis process. The course will be held in the training rooms of the Hospital Universitario Son Espases on 10 and 13 February.

Dr Inmaculada Zango Martín, a renowned author of books on occupational therapy, proposes a theoretical and practical methodology to promote reflective analysis and discussion.

According to Ana Castaño, a training technician at the Mental Health Office, the aim of this course is to provide an in-depth look at the techniques for collecting and analysing qualitative research in the field of health. “Responding to health problems requires professionals to incorporate other perspectives that allow them to understand the health-illness process, as well as other ways of investigating these processes”.

Qualitative research, which is rarely used in the field of health, can help to understand phenomena from a holistic perspective that improves therapeutic intervention.
