The Government will start paying economic aid for people

\ Beneficiaries can check the payment and the amount on the ajutsocial.caib.es website.

The Councillor for Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago, and the Councillor for Economic Model, Tourism and Employment, Iago Negueruela, announced today that the first payments of the aid contemplated in the Government’s social shield for jobseekers will begin to be made on 22 February. This is one of the main measures, by a number of beneficiaries and economic amount, included in the so-called social shield deployed by the Government of the Balearic Islands to compensate for the price increases resulting from the war in Ukraine.

A total of 91,565 beneficiaries who between 1 November and 23 December 2022 were seeking employment and with an unemployment benefit or subsidy recognised by the SEPE have already been officially recognised by the Government. The first beneficiaries, these 91,565, have already been published in the BOIB – last Saturday 4 February – and can be checked on the ajutsocial.caib.es website, as well as to see the amount they will receive.

This is the first list that will be updated as the SEPE informs the bank account of those job seekers who meet the established requirements so that the Government can process the payment. In fact, the SEPE has already recognised a further 10,000 people, which will soon be published in the BOIB (Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands). As well as being published on the website, two more publications will be made in the BOIB with the new beneficiaries and an informative letter will be sent out.

Beneficiaries who meet the requirements (having a recognised unemployment benefit or unemployment benefit between 1 November and 23 December 2022 and being registered as a jobseeker with the SOIB for at least one day during the period in question) do not have to go through any administrative procedures. Everything is done automatically and automatically. It is a lump sum of 300 euros if you are receiving a contributory unemployment benefit or 600 euros if you are receiving an unemployment benefit.

First payment
The first payment will be made between 22 and 23 February and will begin to be paid to the first 15,000 people. Progressively, payments will be made 15,000 at a time to avoid computer problems due to the high volume.

The forecast is that all payments, both for these 91,565 people and for the new beneficiaries who join, will be paid before 31 March, thus fulfilling the commitment that had been made.

The 105,000 beneficiaries will be reached, once the SEPE has sent us all the information we need to make the payment. This will cost the Government of the Balearic Islands 41.8 million euros.

Of these 91,565 beneficiaries who have already been identified and are in the process of being paid, 68,819 will receive a payment of 300 euros (they are or have been recipients of unemployment benefits between 1 November and 23 December 2022) and 22,746 will receive 600 euros (they are or have been recipients of unemployment benefits between 1 November and 23 December 2022).

Regarding beneficiaries by the island of origin. On the island of Mallorca, there are 48,665 people who receive the benefit and 16,883 people who receive the subsidy, a total of 65,548 people. On the island of Menorca, there are 6,612 people receiving benefits and 2,327 people receiving subsidies, a total of 8,939 people. On the island of Eivissa, 12,472 people are receiving benefits and 3,340 are receiving subsidies; a total of 15,812, and on Formentera, 1,070 people are receiving benefits and 196 are receiving subsidies; a total of 1,226. In the Balearic Islands as a whole, the first 91,565 people who will receive payment are 68,819 who are receiving benefits and 22,746 who are receiving subsidies.
