The Ibiza Council is still awaiting a favourable report from Water Resources to give final approval to this project

The president of the Ibiza Council, Vicent Marí, and the mayor of the municipality of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, met this morning, accompanied by the vice president and councillor Mariano Juan and the municipal councillor Rubén Sousa, to discuss the road projects that the highest institution and the Town Hall will promote in the current term of office in the city of Ibiza.

Specifically, both institutions have pledged to promote the start of work on the conversion of the first beltway of Avenida de la Paz, located on the EI-10 island road, which has an executive project initially approved by the plenary session of the Ibiza Council and is awaiting a favourable report from the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Balearic Islands Government’s Department of the Environment and Territory before it can be definitively approved. But it should be remembered that this project was put on hold at the express request of the former government team of the Ibiza Town Hall, which expressed its intention to start over with the initial drafting of a preliminary project which, in practice, meant returning to the same point 14 years ago, when the need to reform this ring road that, in practice, separates the neighbourhoods of Can Cantó, Ca n’Escandell, Can Sant, es putxet, Can Misses, Cas Mut, Cas Escandells and sa Joveria from the city centre began to be considered.

Now, the new municipal government team has asked the Ibiza Council to implement as soon as possible the project initially approved in the ordinary plenary session of December 2021, acquiring the commitment of the president to give the necessary impetus to this project to start the works as soon as possible.

Likewise, the president of the Ibiza Council and the mayor of the city have agreed to promote the start of the drafting of the conversion of Avenida de Sant Josep into a walkable, modern boulevard that will serve to dignify one of the main entrances to the city.
