Regarding the best pre-pandemic August, that of 2019, the data are practically similar: in that month the number of seats booked was 11.8 million.

For the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Héctor Gómez, “the excellent booking data for international flights show that the forecasts for the high tourist season are being met. The tourism sector is one of the main drivers of our economy: it generates wealth and generates quality employment. Spain is a destination increasingly desired by international travellers for its magnificent and diverse offer that places us at the head of the world’s tourism powers”.

For August, Colombia (32.5% more seats booked than in August 2022), Poland (28.8% more than a year ago) and Portugal (28.5% year-on-year growth) performed well. Also noteworthy is the 7.4% year-on-year growth in seats booked from the United States, the leading non-European market.

In terms of the percentage of seats booked by country, the United Kingdom leads the way, with 23.2% of the total number of seats booked this month, followed by Germany, 14%, and Italy, 9.6% (see table). Between them, these three countries account for almost half of the seats booked.
