The first vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, offers the director of the Teatre Principal to continue in the position for another year while a competition is launched to appoint a new director. Roca wants to depoliticize this management to ensure the following criteria look for culture and artistic creations.
The councillor assures that “cultural welfare is above partisan interests” and that is why she has proposed Cerdà to continue at the head of the public hall. His goal is to create a public competition for the direction of the Teatro Principal and, in fact, criticizes that the previous government team did nothing to advance in this line.
Now, to ensure its commitment to culture, Antònia Roca will initiate the processing of the competition with Josep Ramon Cerdà at the helm, if he accepts the proposal, thus ensuring the stability of the programming, despite the fact that “the previous executive handpicked the current director”.
