The Government recognizes the merit, effort and talent of the students with the best grades in the PBAU in the Balearic Islands.

The president of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens, and the Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, have received today at the Consolat de Mar the six students of the Balearic Islands with the best marks of the PBAU this year.

During the ceremony, President Prohens delivered a commemorative photograph to the students with the best grades, who are: in Mallorca, Guillem Crespí Femenia, from the Santa Monica school in Palma, with an access grade of 9.88, and Glòria Coll González, who studied at the Pío XII school in Palma and has obtained an access grade of 9.8. While Guillem Femenia will study Aerospace Engineering, Glòria Coll will study Mathematics. In Ibiza, Lucía Costa Azqueta, who studied at the Mistral school in Ibiza, has a university entrance grade of 9.8 and next year will begin her studies in Medicine. In Menorca, the best grade was that of Laura Tomás Huguet, who studied at the IES Josep Maria Quadrado de Ciutadella and has a university entrance grade of 9.54. She will study Biomedical Engineering. Finally, in Formentera, the best mark has been Judith Verdera Piqué, who has studied at the IES Marc Ferrer de Sant Francesc Xavier and has obtained an access grade of 9.2. Next year she will start Medicine.

During the ceremony, President Prohens recognized the merit, effort and talent of the students and said that they are “a guarantee to believe in the future of these islands”. Prohens also defended the role of the teachers and the families of the students for the support they have given to the young people “which has been essential to achieve these results”. The president also pointed out that, the Govern, will work so that students find in the islands “the opportunities to carry out your life project at home. Nothing would make us feel more proud” and encouraged students to “give the best to this society: educated and talented people”.

The Conseller d’Educació I Universitats, Antoni Vera, for his part, also highlighted “the effort and perseverance” of the students and remarked that the Conselleria d’Educació has as its objective “the culture of effort to achieve academic excellence, which has to go hand in hand with putting in value the transmission of knowledge”. Vera also recognized the great work of teachers and families and thanked them for having influenced the fact that the academic results of the students have been excellent. The counsellor has encouraged the honorees not to lose heart and has remarked on his commitment to work from the Conselleria “to have a quality education system in each and every one of the educational stages. From zero years to the University”.

During the ceremony, Guillem Femenia Crespí, as representative of the students, also spoke. Femenia thanked colleagues, teachers and families who have supported the students to achieve good academic grades.
