The Consell de Mallorca presents the Mallorca 2023 Awards

A total of six works have been recognized in a gala set in the confrontation between good and evil: a classic of literature.

The Consell de Mallorca has presented the Mallorca 2023 Awards for Literary Creation and Contemporary Photography at the Teatre Principal of Palma. The awards ceremony has counted, this year, with musical performances by Mar Vives and Sergio Llopis, in addition to the shows of the Demons of Kinfumfà, the Batucada Batu-al mundo and the ballet of Francisca Tomàs. The gala was set in the confrontation between good and evil: a classic of literature.

As for the winners of the Mallorca 2023 Awards, Agata Gil and Nuria Figueras were the winners in the category of Children’s Literature for the work El malic d’en Frederic. Miquel Vidal was the winner of the Essay Award 2023 with the work Identitat i autogovern. Les Illes Balears a la Transició democràtica, for the good primary sources that lead to very interesting conclusions, according to the jury. Pere Perelló has won the award in the category of Poetry, with Aspra és la terra i altres poemes: the jury has valued the vindicative theme of the book of poems as well as the naturalness, sensitivity and verbal fluency of the work.

As for the Theater category, Neus Nadal was the winner with Kiken_2023 for her risk in writing, both in the research of new languages and in the broad view and the opening of potential stagings. Finally, the Narrativa 2023 prize went to Marta Grau with Deixa’m anar, a very well-written work, according to the jury, with a convincing voice and a solid narrative structure that make it worthy of the award.

In addition to the literary awards, the Contemporary Photography 2023 award was also presented. The project Veñen corvos voando baixo, by Tono Arias, was selected: the jury valued its reflection and representation of a global episode such as the confinement by COVID.
