The 44th graduating class of the Local Police Training Course in Menorca
The managing director of the Balearic School of Public Administration (EBAP), Violeta Rodríguez, attended today at the Convent of San Diego, in the municipality of Alaior, the ceremony of delivery of the diplomas of the 44th promotion of the Local Police Training Course in Menorca organized by the Govern de les Illes Balears. Started last March 20, the training course consisted of 800 hours of training.
The diplomas have been delivered by the managing director of the EBAP and the mayors of Alaior, José Luis Benejam; Es Castell, José Luis Camps, and Es Mercadal, Joan Palliser as well as the councillor of Police of the City of Ciutadella, Raquel Pericàs. A total of 9 diplomas were awarded to 4 students from Alaior, 2 from Es Castell, 2 from Ciutadella, 1 from Es Mercadal and 8 interims from the rest of the island. The work of the instructor, the delegate and the sub-delegate in the course of this promotion has also been recognized.
By obtaining the Training Course, students are enabled to work as local police officers in their municipalities and, thus, contribute to alleviate the lack of common troops in all municipalities of the islands.
In this sense, the managing director of the EBAP has pointed out that having passed the training course will allow students who have passed “become part of the staff of your municipalities and, more importantly, make this profession not only a livelihood, but a way of life and be a direct part of the daily life of your towns or cities.
Rodriguez also had words of thanks for the technicians and all the instructors who, from the EBAP, “have carried out the great task of education and training. And, in a very special way, for the town councils of Menorca that have taken part in this new edition of the course. And today is also a key day for the municipalities since they will soon be able to see their Local Police staff reinforced with the aim of further improving the model of public safety that citizens demand”.
Finally, he has expressed the “commitment of the Government of the Balearic Islands to strengthen the police forces of all municipalities”, a task to which “we are devoting all personal, technical and economic efforts”.
