Damm Next Generation Mallorca

\ It will develop a total of three inseparable projects in the town of Palma: a microbrewery, a dairy processing plant and a logistics centre.

The Consell de Govern has given the green light today to the Conselleria de Empresa, Empleo y Energía to declare as a strategic industrial project the investment proposal DAMM Next Generation Mallorca, presented in August 2022, as it meets the requirements for it: to promote industrial development in the Balearic Islands through a project of undoubted social interest that applies, in a sustainable way, energy and environmental policies.

The DAMM Next Generation project, which plans to take advantage of the facilities that the DAMM company has on industrial land in Palma, is made up of three different joint development initiatives: a microbrewery, a dairy processing plant and a logistics centre.

The new microbrewery, dedicated to the local production of Rosa Blanca brand beer, will have a beer dilution and beer-drive loading facility to minimise the number of transports from the mainland and the CO2 footprint. It will also have its own wastewater treatment plant and energy room.

On the other hand, the project plans to expand and consolidate the AGAMA dairy product processing plant in Palma, which will boost the local primary sector, especially the livestock sector, as well as promote the use of electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and increase the production of zero-kilometre products. In addition, the plant will incorporate a new packaging line in returnable and 100% recyclable formats and will also have its own wastewater treatment plant and a solar photovoltaic plant for self-consumption.

Finally, the Palma-1 Logistics Centre will be set up, a logistics and distribution centre that will promote the use of renewable energies and aims to improve operational efficiency through new sustainable distribution models using digitalisation systems for logistics tasks, a self-consumption photovoltaic solar plant on the roof, charging stations for electric vehicles, and the replacement of diesel vehicles with electric vehicles for the marketing and distribution of beverages.

The distinction as a strategic industrial project is awarded to those investment proposals whose priority objective is the improvement, consolidation or expansion of the industrial fabric of the Balearic Islands, as well as the diversification of the economic and productive model, the generation of quality employment, and the energy reconversion of the sector through energy efficiency, the use of renewables and the circular economy, to achieve greater environmental sustainability and improved competitiveness within the secondary sector of the islands.
