The Balearic Government has launched disciplinary proceedings following a violent assault that took place after a National Youth League football match, a case that has once again highlighted concerns about safety in grassroots sport.
Through the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, and its Directorate General for Sports, the regional administration has issued a resolution to initiate proceedings for a very serious administrative offence, while also imposing a provisional ban preventing the alleged offender from accessing any sports facilities.

Incident in Alcúdia after a youth league match
According to the administrative resolution, the incident occurred on 19 November 2025 at a football ground in Alcúdia, following the end of a National Youth League match. Based on audiovisual evidence and formal complaints, an altercation took place in which a member of the public physically assaulted several people.
As a result, one of the victims suffered serious dental injuries, while another sustained various abrasions, factors that led the authorities to classify the events as particularly serious.
Very serious offence and immediate preventive measures
The actions have been classified as a very serious offence under Law 2/2023 on physical activity and sport in the Balearic Islands, which penalises violent participation in fights or disturbances at sports venues when serious harm is caused.
To ensure the safety of athletes and spectators and to prevent further incidents, the administration has imposed an immediate ban on the alleged offender’s access to all sports facilities. Breaching this precautionary measure would constitute an additional serious offence, potentially resulting in fines of up to €5,000.
Institutional response and zero-tolerance stance
The decision was announced at a press conference by the Regional Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzà, accompanied by the Managing Director of the Fundació per a l’Esport Balear, Eladi Huertas, and the President of the Federación de Fútbol de las Islas Baleares, Jordi Horrach.
Bauzà reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards violence in sport, stressing that sports facilities must remain safe environments rooted in coexistence and shared values. Horrach, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of institutional cooperation, noting that eradicating violence in sport requires a coordinated and long-term commitment.
Administrative proceedings on hold pending court ruling
As the events may also have criminal relevance and are under judicial review, the regional administration has agreed to suspend the administrative proceedings until a final court ruling is issued. This measure aims to prevent double sanctions for the same facts, while keeping the preventive access ban in force during the suspension period.
Through this action, both the regional government and the football federation reaffirm their shared commitment to combating violence in sport, particularly at youth level, and to safeguarding sports venues as secure spaces aligned with the social role of physical activity.
