The island institution has provided free transport for the 68 associations visiting today, tomorrow and Friday, following a request made by the Federation’s president, Joan Bibiloni. Llorenç Galmés stressed that “in this new phase of the Consell, people are our priority and, in particular, the elderly to repay them for everything they have done for us”.
Galmés highlighted the role of the elderly in society “as living witnesses of the history and culture of our land, who transmit traditions and values to future generations, helping to keep our roots alive”. He also extended his thanks to the Federation “for keeping the flame alive and continuing with the associative movement of the elderly”.
The bishop of Mallorca, Sebastià Taltavull, officiated at an emotional mass in which all the associations present made an offering of food, a new initiative, given that in previous years a floral offering had been made. In this way, the solidarity contribution will go to the Food Bank. The day ended with a fraternal meal.
