The Consell de Mallorca focuses the second conference of ‘Mental Health in Youth’ on emotional intelligence
The talk was given by Carmen Medina, coordinator of Mental Health Services at Deixalles Calvià, Xisca Buades Fortuny, emotional therapist and coach at Educaclown, and José Carbonell, a psychiatrist at the Carbonell Institute. During the session, the professionals dealt with issues such as the identification and management of emotions, strategies for dealing with social pressure and the need to develop emotional skills to improve relationships and the well-being of young people. The combination of theoretical presentations and practical activities allowed participants to reflect and acquire resources applicable to everyday situations.
The island’s Director of Youth and Participation, Carmen Ripoll, stressed the importance of this programme for the emotional health of young people and its positive impact on society: ‘These conferences are much more than training; they are spaces for reflection and debate that allow us to address crucial issues and provide families, tutors and professionals with resources to accompany young people. Emotional intelligence is a fundamental tool to help them face the challenges of life, and today’s great participation reaffirms the need to continue with initiatives like this.
