Throughout the day, and through presentations and round tables, various experts have been explaining how it will work and all the developments and functionalities that the tool will have, both from the point of view of the platforms and the public administration.
Thus, as highlighted during the conference, the regulation will operate on tourist rentals, seasonal rentals, rooms or other properties that allow short-term accommodation and entail economic remuneration, as long as they are offered through transactional online platforms.
In addition, the regulation will be mandatory for the services provided by online platforms to hosts offering short-term accommodation in Spain, regardless of the place of establishment of these platforms, as well as for the rental services offered by the hosts.
On behalf of the Consell de Mallorca, Rodríguez has assured that ‘the objective is to know exactly the details of all the information that will be necessary to be able to establish a fluid and effective communication of the legal activity of short-term rental that is carried out in each territory’.
In this sense, the Councillor for Tourism referred to the information that will have to be provided by the departments responsible for tourism activity, as well as by the land registries. ‘It is important to know all the details because it will begin to be effective in July,’ said Rodríguez.
The conference was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, as well as representatives from all the autonomous communities, municipalities, the business sector and marketing platforms.
This Window will be under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda through the General Directorate of Planning and Evaluation, and landlords will be obliged to obtain a registration number and the platforms will be obliged to have landlords identify their dwellings by this number in their applications.
