The Government promotes a portal to give visibility to and promote the Social Economy in the Balearic Islands

This website, which is operational as of today, is a project that aims to support and give greater visibility to the social economy of the Balearic Islands. Another of the objectives is to increase the number of companies and organisations that make up the social economy, to increase the number of cooperatives and the number of insertion companies, among others.

The Minister of Enterprise, Employment and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, explained: ‘This Government has a clear and manifest commitment to the social economy of the Balearic Islands. A commitment that is manifested in actions and policies aimed at promoting and raising the profile of the social economy, as we said at the beginning of the legislature.

He added: ‘We have developed a specific portal, the result of dialogue with social economy organisations, to provide visibility and be a space where you can find all the information on the sector’s organisations, find out about the actions that are carried out to promote these organisations and for the public to recognise the important work of this sector in the economy and society of the Balearic Islands’.

This website will be a guide to the different regulations and calls for public administration subsidies and will facilitate access to the organisations. José Antonio Caldés, Director General of Enterprise, the Self-Employed and Trade, presented the calls for subsidies 2025-2026 aimed at this sector.

‘Three subsidies will be announced with a total credit of 3,254,607.82 euros aimed at insertion companies and/or companies promoting these, labour companies, cooperatives and micro-operatives and entities of cooperatives, labour companies and insertion companies’, announced the director general.

He added: ‘Specifically, these subsidies are aimed at promoting the social economy by supporting the maintenance of jobs; promoting employment and improving the competitiveness of cooperatives; and for the promotion and dissemination of the social economy and to support the association of cooperatives, worker-owned companies and insertion companies’.
