Mallorca leads the first political meeting in the history of the Cultural Landscapes and Related World Heritage Sites Alliance
The Alliance has thirteen members, including the Serra de Tramuntana cultural landscape, which currently holds the presidency. Antoni Fuster, who acts as a representative of the Council and manager of the Serra de Tramuntana, presided over the working meeting, at which initiatives were discussed to broaden the Alliance’s representativeness and institutional relevance, in addition to reviewing the activities underway and the actions planned for 2025.
The Minister reaffirmed Mallorca’s commitment to the Alliance during this legislature and pointed out that ‘organising this political meeting, the first in the Alliance’s history, is fundamental because we believe that the time has come to give it a boost so that it can play a relevant role both nationally and internationally’.
Fuster also stressed that the Alliance ‘continues to grow thanks to its activity and the credibility it has demonstrated, as reflected in the incorporation of four new landscapes in the last twelve months’. It should be noted that the three World Heritage Sites of the Balearic Islands now form part of the Alliance: the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range; Ibiza, Biodiversity and Culture; and Menorca Talayotic.
