PortsIB promotes nautical training in the Balearic Islands with a new donation of engines and nautical equipment to CIFP L’Embat

On this occasion, the material loaned includes three 75 hp two-stroke engines, a four-stroke outboard motor, a sailboat engine with propeller and sails for practice, as well as a hydraulic system for collecting nets from a fishing boat. All of this material comes from boats and boats abandoned in the ports managed by PortsIB, and thanks to this recovery, the students will be able to familiarise themselves with their handling and maintenance in a practical environment.

This transfer is in addition to the donations previously made to various training centres in the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands, which in 2024 received two 6-metre fibreglass boats and five engines.

This initiative is part of PortsIB’s ongoing effort to reuse resources from vessels intercepted in the ports of the Balearic Islands. Since 2020, PortsIB has managed the collection of 268 boats, investing more than 160,000 euros in transport, dismantling and recycling. This investment not only contributes to maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the Balearic coastline but also favours the reuse of these materials for educational purposes, to improve the practical training of future professionals in the nautical sector.
