The Inca Town Hall held the traditional Memorial del Olvido (Memorial to the Forgotten) at midday today in the Sant Domingo cloister. This year the event was dedicated to the figure of Andreu París, an activist and trade unionist who died in Porreres in 1937.

Inca pays tribute to Andreu París at the Memorial of the Forgotten

This initiative is part of the cycle ‘Inca has memory’, which takes place during February intending to recover and disseminate the historical memory of the city. ‘We have to remember Andreu Paris, and to remember all those who, like him, were persecuted, imprisoned and condemned. His name, his sacrifice, his struggles cannot be forgotten,’ said the councillor for Democratic Memory, Alice Weber.

During the ceremony, the traditional wreath laying in memory of the victims of the Civil War took place, with musical accompaniment by Ester Lázaro and Xisco Amengual, who performed the ‘Cant dels Ocells’. This tribute, like every year, was attended by the Inca Town Hall, the Memory of Mallorca collective, the Recerca collective and the Darder Mascaró Foundation, among other associations.
