They have also visited almost all the island’s educational centres, as well as industrial companies, nurseries and centres for the disabled.

The last one took place in the Binipreu shopping centre, located in Artrutx street, in Maó. This visit was made in conjunction with those responsible for the establishment, making an exhaustive tour of the facilities and analysing the security conditions in each of the spaces. Choral collaboration is essential to identify areas for improvement and ensure that the necessary safety standards are met.

In addition, this visit culminated in communication tests using TETRA equipment, which is necessary to ensure a rapid and coordinated response in emergency situations. This effective communication is a key element in safeguarding the safety of both the people and the firefighters themselves, who gain knowledge from these visits.

In addition to this last meeting, the Fire Service, together with the Occupational Risk technicians and police officers, have visited almost all the educational centres on the island to hold drills and evaluate how they are carried out in order to later improve some aspects if necessary. Training is also given to all the workers in these centres, whether they are teachers or not, so that in the event of an evacuation they are aware of the steps to follow and know how to use some of the tools such as fire extinguishers, thus creating a culture of prevention.

Other establishments such as centres for the disabled, industrial companies or nurseries have also received technical visits from the Fire Brigade and Prevention Services to learn how to act if necessary, evaluate the drills and monitor the safety conditions of each building.

The Prevention Services would like to thank all those involved for their commitment and professionalism in carrying out these visits. They recall that safety is a shared responsibility, and these initiatives are a crucial step towards creating safer environments for the island.
