The Institute of Professional Qualifications of the Balearic Islands (IQPIB) will for the first time accredit the professional skills of students with special educational needs. Today, the director general of Vocational Training and Educational Planning, Maria Isabel Salas, visited the Esment Escola Professional centre to meet the four students who will opt for this accreditation. The director general was accompanied by the director of the IQPIB, José Manuel Martínez Onieva, and Tomeu Quetglas, head of the Inclusion Service for the Educational Community (SICE), who were received by María José Mora, director of Esment Escola Professional; Fina Pons, director of the area of social and labour insertion of Esment, and Aina Nicolau, head of the social employment centre of Esment.

Specifically, four students of Esment have enrolled in the procedure to accredit professional skills in the field of cooking and restaurant and bar service. A pioneering initiative since until now no official accreditation had been carried out in special education.
