More than 10,000 pupils on the Balearic Islands will enjoy the educational concerts of ‘Viu la Cultura’ this academic year

Today was the second and final day of concerts by the Mallorcan group Cap-pela, ‘Cap-pela 30 anys’, organised within the framework of ‘Viu la Cultura’, and attended by 1,400 students from publicly funded schools on the island of Mallorca.

‘Cap-pela, 30 years’ is a journey through the musical and life trajectory of these musicians, in which the students participate actively, as well as discovering how, with just the voice, the sounds of an entire orchestra can be recreated.

This proposal forms part of the cycle of educational concerts for the 2024-2025 academic year organised through the ‘Viu la Cultura’ programme of the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats, which organises concerts regularly in different parts of the Balearic Islands.

In addition to ‘Cap-pela, 30 anys’, the concerts ‘Història del Rock’, ‘Un passeig pel jazz’ and ‘Cançonetes de Nadal’ have been held so far. In the coming months, the show ‘Operació Òpera’ and the musical ‘El viatge del petit príncep’ are scheduled to take place in Mallorca, Menorca, Eivissa and Formentera. The concert ‘Història del rock’ will also be staged once again but in Eivissa.

By the end of the “Viu la Cultura” concert series for the 2024-2025 school year, more than 10,000 pupils on the islands will have enjoyed one of these educational shows.

‘Viu la Cultura’ is a consolidated programme of didactic-cultural activities, with a long history and presence in classrooms for more than 20 years. Starting this academic year 2024-2025, it is promoted by the Department of Education and Universities with the collaboration of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Balearic Islands, through the Educational Innovation Service of the Directorate General for Early Childhood, Attention to Diversity and Educational Improvement and the Directorate General for Culture.

The main objective of the programme is to bring the world of culture, understood in a broad and essential sense in order to achieve a complete education, closer to all students through a didactic approach, as well as favouring direct contact with the cultural reality of the Balearic Islands.
