The subsidies were paid in the first quarter of the year, fulfilling the objective set by the insular institution to advance their payment.
The Consell de Mallorca has authorised the payment of 23 million euros to the island’s town councils, corresponding to the 2024-2025 Works and Services Plan and the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (Paesc), so that they now have the overall economic allocations granted to implement the projects they presented.
These two subsidies are biannual in nature, so the disbursement is linked to the payment of the second advance payment of the allocation foreseen for 2025.

The Consell de Mallorca pays the town councils 23 million euros
Specifically, 20 million corresponds to the POS, a payment that will allow local entities to carry out the 442 projects approved by the island institution for this call for proposals aimed at the improvement and renovation of municipal facilities and infrastructure, such as street asphalting, waste collection systems, landscaping or the creation of new cultural, sports, educational or social facilities.
The other 3 million paid are part of the Paesc, which has received a total of 387 applications from local councils, which will consist of reducing the energy expenditure of municipal services, renovating public lighting and investing in photovoltaic self-consumption, among others.
The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmes, recalled that the government team has fulfilled its commitment to double the amount allocated to the POS, from 20 million to almost 40 million in 2024 and 2025. ‘But in addition to doubling it, we have achieved something that had never been achieved before: speeding up the payment of the second advance so that the town councils have this allocation available at the beginning of the year’.
Advance payment of subsidies
‘We have fulfilled the objective set, to bring forward the financing of investments and have been paid in the first quarter of the year,’ said President Galmés, who added that ’in this way, the councils can undertake all the projects that their municipalities need without delay, because we know that these are actions that will result in the quality of life of the Mallorcan people. Our commitment is to be at the side of all the local councils, and that is what we are demonstrating,’ he said.
In the same vein, the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, explained ‘the effort made by the department to pay the 20 million corresponding to this year in the first quarter of the year, as we had promised. We have shortened the deadlines with respect to previous calls, thus complying with the request made to us by the mayors to have the funds available to start the projects’.
23 million for actions in Mallorca’s municipalities
This allocation of 20 million from the POS will allow the municipalities of Mallorca to undertake the 442 projects that the Consell de Mallorca approved last summer, for a total amount of 39.2 million for the years 2024 and 2025.
Under the commitment to the local councils, the government team will allocate nearly 80 million euros of investment to the municipalities in this term of office, thus fulfilling its objective of strengthening local corporations and promoting municipalism.
For its part, the Paesc 2024-2025, has a budget of 7 million euros and has enabled the approval of a total of 387 actions.
Thus, the budget foreseen in the POS and Paesc subsidies for 2024-2025 totals 87 million euros for the local councils, which will allow a total of 829 actions to be carried out in the island’s municipalities that have been approved by the island institution.
