The CONFERENCE, which will take place on Sunday, will also serve to pay tribute to the volunteer firefighters who collaborated in the emergency tasks caused by the DANA in Valencia.
The Firefighters of Mallorca, the emergency corps of the Consell de Mallorca, will celebrate their Diada this Sunday, coinciding with the day of their patron saint, San Juan de Dios. The Department of Finance and Public Function has organised various events to commemorate the event. The Alcúdia fire station will host an open day to bring the fire brigade closer to the public and to give them a first-hand look at the facilities, vehicles and equipment they use daily.

The Firefighters of Mallorca celebrate their Diada with an open day and exhibitions
The island’s Director of Emergencies, Joan Fornàs, stressed that ‘the aim of the Diada, as well as being a day of celebration, is to bring the fire brigade and the emergency service closer to Mallorcans, and to strengthen the sense of belonging to a group among the firefighters themselves’. During the Diada, the Consell de Mallorca will pay tribute to the volunteer firefighters who travelled to Valencia to help in the emergency and assistance tasks for those affected by the DANA.
The activities will begin at 10 a.m. at the Alcúdia fire station, at Carrer d’Amsterdam, 4. At 10.15 a.m. different children’s races will be held, aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 12, with a circuit adapted to the youngest members of the family.
In the morning, the Mallorca Fire Brigade will hold three drills. First, at 11.45 a.m., there will be a multidisciplinary traffic accident drill, in which the extrication of an accident vehicle will be witnessed. At 12.15, the Canine Rescue Group will perform an exhibition with dogs trained for tracking and rescue. And finally, at 13.00, the Mountain Rescue Group will demonstrate a rescue action.
Visitors will also be able to visit the fire brigade’s installations and facilities. To round off the festival, there will be a display of vehicles, a fire extinguishing demonstration, children’s games and bouncy castles for the little ones.
