The Government of the Balearic Islands has authorised the payment of 3,411,638.28 euros to the company Baleària Eurolíneas Marítimas, SA, as compensation for the discounts applied to residents on inter-island routes during the third quarter of 2024.

The Government guarantees the coverage of discounts for inter-island maritime transport

This measure guarantees compliance with the system of discounts on regular maritime transport, which allows citizens of the Balearic Islands to enjoy reduced fares on inter-island journeys.

The funds earmarked for this compensation will be charged to the general budget of the Autonomous Community for the year 2025.

Support for inter-island maritime transport forms part of the Government’s policy to guarantee cohesion between the islands and promote accessible mobility for all residents.

This type of aid helps to facilitate daily travel for work, health, education and personal reasons, thus reinforcing equal opportunities, regardless of place of residence.

The total amount has been verified by the Directorate-General for Ports and Maritime Transport and corresponds to the rebates applied to tickets purchased by Balearic residents during the corresponding period.
