Toni Montserrat will take part in the Writers’ Library lecture series at the Palma Public Library “Can Sales”
On this occasion, the guest author is Toni Montserrat (Ibiza, 1974), a writer, entrepreneur and heritage manager, who has excelled in the genre of historical and mystery novels with his works Isla Negra and Mala Mar. In 2023, he debuted on the literary scene with Isla Negra (Black Island), a novel inspired by a real crime that took place in 19th-century Ibiza. The success of the work led him to continue the saga with Mala Mar (2024), set in Mallorca at the same time, where he explores the island’s social and cultural tensions through a plot full of intrigue and unexpected twists and turns.
In the lecture of the series, entitled ‘In the footsteps of the past: the art of documenting to write’, Toni Montserrat will explain how he delves into archives, period chronicles and historical documents to bring his stories to life, and will share with the audience his sources, methods and strategies to achieve an accurate recreation of the past. He will also offer insight into how to transform this documentation into an agile and exciting narrative, without losing historical rigour.
The conference will be held on Thursday the 20th of March at 6 pm at the Biblioteca Pública de Palma ‘Can Sales’.
