The Government maintains that it cannot take in a single minor more than those arriving on its shores.
The Balearic Islands currently take in 573 unaccompanied foreign minors, according to data provided by the island councils responsible for this area. This figure represents 1,023% of the specific places for the reception of these children and young people. This was sent today by the Regional Ministry of Families and Social Affairs to the Spanish government, meeting the deadline set for this purpose.

Likewise, the Balearic Islands will appeal before the Constitutional Court against the decree law that regulates the distribution of these migrant minors. In the absence of its formalisation by the Consell de Govern, the Community Lawyers‘ Office and the Ministry of Families and Social Affairs are already working on the appeal of this regulation, to prevent the reception of minors from other communities, given that the Lawyers’ Office sees sufficient elements to carry it out.
